Every client has a unique situation. Through skilled negotiation or aggressive litigation, we will help you reach solutions for every aspect of your divorce, including division of marital property, child custody and visitation, as well as child support.

Mississippi has two kinds of divorce: fault and no-fault. In order to file a "fault-divorce," one of these 12 grounds must apply:

  • Habitual cruel and inhumane treatment.
  • Adultery.
  • Receiving a sentence to any penitentiary without being pardoned before being sent there.
  • Desertion for one year.
  • Habitual drunkenness.
  • Habitual and excessive use of opium, morphine or other like drug.
  • Natural impotency.
  • Insanity or idiocy at the time of marriage, if the party complaining did not know of such infirmity.
  • Marriage to another person at the time of the marriage (bigamy).
  • Wife's pregnancy by another person at the time of the marriage, if the husband did not know of such pregnancy.
  • The spouses being related to each other within the degrees that are prohibited by law.
  • Incurable insanity.

When you come to us for guidance, we will ask why you want a divorce and whether your spouse knows. The answers to these two questions will impact the rest of your case. Once we understand the circumstances surrounding your divorce, we will advise you of your rights and explain all of your legal options.

If you are going through a divorce in Gulfport, we will do everything we can to help you reach solutions quickly so that you can start rebuilding your life. Call 228-864-3489 or contact us online to schedule an appointment with an experienced Mississippi lawyer.
